Following Passions--Developing Leaders
The Individualized Choice Education (ICE) Program depends upon a partnership between students, parents and teacher to develop the optimal educational program for the student. Parents guarantee that they will facilitate the individualized education while the school provides materials, assistance and educational experiences in a K-12 environment. This program serves those students who work best in a home and community-based environment through independent study. Students are welcome to participate in on-campus events whenever possible and appropriate. Multi-age classes are available to students for enrichment and to support and enhance their independent curriculum. Most students attend 2-3 partial days for classes, averaging 8-15 hours a week of classtime, and work independently the rest of the week on their teacher-supported curriculum. For more information about ICE, or to request an application, contact teacher Darlene Quayle at (360) 385-4477 (voicemail ext 4251) or by email at dquayle@ptsd50.org.
*** *** Locations and Staff for 2009-2010 We are being staffed at two full-time and one part-time teachers: This reflects the growth that we are seeing in ICE! We are glad to welcome back Daniel Molotsky, Darlene Quayle and Marci Van Cleve for the 2009-2010 school year. Marci will continue teaching K-12 classes in the Grant Street ICE House; Daniel will be in the Brown Portable (C) teaching K-12 classes; and Darlene will be in the Brown Portable & ICE House for middle level math, the ICE House for elementary literacy, and the PTHS Gael Stuart building for most 5th-12th grade classes. WASL Assessments High school WASL results have been mailed home by PTHS; 3rd-8th grade WASL results will be released shortly. Next year's assessments will take place over fewer days due to the new assessment system being implemented by our new state superintendent.
