From the SuperintendentThe District is forming a Citizens' Bond Oversight Committee New! On Monday, April 28th the Board of the Port Townsend School District directed me to create a Citizens’ Bond Oversight Committee. The purpose of this committee is to monitor the expenditure of taxpayers’ money for school construction, ensure that bond proceeds are spent only for the purposes described in the ballot measure as presented to the voters at the time of election, and report to the public. The committee would meet at least monthly, possibly more often during the construction phase, and report regularly during regular school board meetings. “Ideally, six to eight community members from a variety of backgrounds with expertise in finance, construction and education would serve on a committee like this,” says Beth Young, Chairwoman. “Such committees typically represent a spectrum of community members, from parents to seniors.” The public is invited to contact any of the board members or the superintendent if they have questions. Individuals who wish to be considered for the committee may download the application here, or request an application from the District Office, 450 Fir Street, Port Townsend, WA (360) 379-4501. Thank you for your interest in this committee and the Port Townsend School District.
