Visit History 2005

The Visit History group left from SeaTac airport March 31 and returned nine days later on April 8. Their trip coincided with the school’s spring break. World History teacher and group leader Gina McMather was assisted  by PTHS English teacher Tom Gambill and his wife Karin. In each of the previous three years, McMather has taken groups to Europe, two to Spain and one to France.

Thirteen girls and four boys comprised the 2005 Visit History tour group. Upperclassmen were Allison Danner, Kristine Janssen, Katie Kaldahl, Jess Iverson, Nikki Gossell and Kipp Beck. Sophomore travelers were Maria Clow, Eva Weber, Samantha Blevins, Hannah Barrett, Hannah Burn, E.J. Bluhm, Nick Hoffman, Jonathan Huntingford, Abby Danner, Calynda Meister and Forrest Little.  The sophomores are currently enrolled in McMather's World History class which all of the others have taken previously. The trip itself fulfilled part of the sophomores coursework for Modern World History.

The group has been using the homeroom periods for planning time, art videos and language study. In addition to discussing what to pack, the group is busy practicing some basic Italian phrases. The student travel company Passports Inc. provided the travel, lodging and Pompeii day trip arrangements. The Port Townsend group this year was self-contained, and not sharing their tour with groups from other U.S. schools.
