PSAT - October 15, 8 a.m., PTHS auditorium.
- For 11th, 10th and 9th graders.
- Preregistration is required ($13 to PTSD #50, payable in the main PTHS office)

The Preliminary Scholastic Aptitude Test (PSAT) is given once a year. It is a shortened version of the SAT which is used by many college admissions offices. The PSAT allows students to “practice” their test taking skills, and also serves as the qualifying test for National Merit Scholarships. More information is available in the PTHS Counseling Office.

SAT - Reasoning Test $45; 11th and 12th grade
- PTHS on Oct 4, Nov 1, Dec. 8, Jan. 24, March 14, May 2, June 8
- Advance preregistration with the College Board is required.
- Materials are available in the Counseling Office or on www.collegeboard.com

The Scholastic Aptitude Test (SAT) is administered by the College Board. Scores are used by many post-secondary institutions, in conjunction with grades and course history, in making admissions decisions. The Reasoning Test includes three sections: critical reading, math and writing. Some post-secondary institutions may also require completion of Subject Tests. Please see a counselor for more information.

ACT - $30, Act Plus Writing - $44.50; 11th and 12th grade
-Given Sept 13, Oct 25, Dec 13, Feb 7, April 4, June 13 in Bremerton and Port Angeles.
- Advance preregistration is required. Materials are available in the Counseling Office or on-line at www.actstudent.org

The American College Test (ACT) is used by many post-secondary institutions, in conjunction with grades and course history, in making admissions decisions. The ACT consists of subtests in English, mathematics, reading, science and writing (optional).

WASL - tax-funded; 10th grade; optional for 9th grade.
March 16 & 17, 2009 reading

April 13 & 14, 2009 math
April 20 & 21, 2009 science

The Washington Assessment of Student Learning (WASL) is a state mandated test for all sophomore students and is part of the state graduation requirements. Demonstration of meeting state standard is achieved by a minimum score of 400 on math, reading and science and a score of 17 on writing.

Asset Test – a math and English placement test required by all community colleges and technical institutes in Washington State. The test is also available as a computer version called the COMPASS test. The test is given locally at the Peninsula College branch campus at Fort Worden. Call directly for an appointment, 385-4605.

AP Tests – Various tests; $84 each test – Grades 11 and 12.
- Selected tests will be given at PTHS during the weeks of May 4-8 and May 11-15
- Advance registration and payment is required through the PTHS Counseling Office.

The Advanced Placement (AP) exams are administered by the College Board. Some universities may grant college credit for high scores achieved on these exams. More information about the AP program may be found at http://www.collegeboard.com/student/testing/ap/about.html
