Site Council Planning for 2007-08

Site Council Minutes

What is the PTHS Site Council?

The Port Townsend School Board adopted a policy in 1994 to encourage schools in the district to create their own advisory councils, or “Site Councils.”  With input from teachers, the community, students and their parents, the PTHS Site Council is designed to assist and make recommendations to the Principal and PTHS Department Chairpersons about school issues.  Site Council members are responsible for gathering information and creative ideas for improvement, and sharing their work at quarterly meetings.

The overall goals of the PTHS Site Council are to:

  • Provide a way for parents, teachers and students to voice ideas and concerns
  • Provide a feeling of teamwork between the school and community
  • To make information about school issues available to all

How can you become involved in the PTHS Site Council?

Involvement in Site Council is open to any individual interested in pursuing goals established through a process of consensus at the beginning of each school year.  Typically the representatives are parents, staff members, community members and the principal.

If you have a question or concern, contact a parent representative or the principal.
