Bus Transportation Port Townsend School District provides bus transportation within the guidelines established by the School Board. The district also provides buses for field trips and extracurricular activities. Buses are inspected annually by the Washington State Patrol. Riding the school bus is a privilege that may be denied to any student who does not demonstrate acceptable behavior. Bus rules are given to students at the beginning of the school year. Please have your child at the bus stop 5 minutes before the scheduled pick-up time. Parents are reminded that, for safety purposes, students are to ride the regularly assigned bus at all times unless permission has been granted by school authorities. If you wish your child to ride a different bus, please send a note to school with the day's date, child's name and your signature. If you student regularly rides the bus to school, it is important that they ride the bus during the weeks of September 25 and October 3. These are student transportation ridership count days and state financing for our transportation department depends on the number of students riding our buses on Bus Rider Count Days. The School District recommends that parents design a back-up plan with their students in the event a bus is late or their student misses the bus and parents have already left for work.
